The Ninth Circuit weighs California's officer-ID law

The Ninth Circuit weighs California's officer-ID law

On appeal from the Central District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (No. 26-926) took up the federal government's challenge to California's requirement that law-enforcement officers display identification. In a published opinion the court granted an injunction pending appeal, barring California from enforcing the officer-identification requirement against federal officers, and signaled the United States is likely to prevail on intergovernmental-immunity and Supremacy Clause grounds.
