Zorn v. Linton
No. 25-297 SCOTUS · Decided SCOTUS
Case Overview
On the Vermont governor's inauguration day, protesters staged a sit-in at the state capitol and refused to leave after police warned they would be arrested for trespassing. Sergeant Jacob Zorn used a wristlock to lift protester Shela Linton to her feet, and she sued for excessive force under the Fourth Amendment. The question was whether Zorn was entitled to qualified immunity.
